You know, I have noticed that many many people on livejournal diss the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. Which is fine. What I find amusing about it is that they choose to compare a teen vampire romance novel which was written for nothing more than entertainment with supposed great novels like Animal Farm and 1984 which were written as satires against society. So yeah, it's probably not as well written but who's to say Orwell wouldn't absolutely love the Twilight series? How can one just assume that the entirety of Orwells reading material consisted of distopias and statements about the government and human depravity? What if he just really enjoyed the occasional vampire teen romance? You don't know that, now do you? And, I can almost guarantee that more people have read the Twilight Series than any of Orwell's books so I don't exactly know what measure they're using for "good book". Wouldn't it stand to reason that any book that gets many people to read it is in fact a good book? Or is this just another case of someone thinking their opinion is ultimately right and everyone else is just a stupid fangirl/boy who wouldn't know good literature if it smacked them in the head? Yay for openmindedness.

OK. I feel better now.

I think its inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create a mental pictures of each other. Even if we see each other occasionally, you tend to have a mental image of me that may or may not jibe with how i really look. If we've never met face to face, then the image in your head might be rather interesting indeed. Take a moment to figure out what celebrity I remind you of and hunt for an image online, then post it in my journal. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:

1) The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the person.

2) Post a picture!

Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done. See if anybody else responds with "I've done that." Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

  1. Went to Antarctica!
  2. Swam in a National Park glacial lake in my underwear
  3. Hiked on a glacier

I finally watched Transformers for the first time last night and I'm intensely disappointed that I didn't find the time to see it in the theatres. It was an awesome awesome movie and now I'm overcome with a need to own a yellow camero and name it Bumblebee in the hopes that it'll transform into a huge autobot. Man. If only.

I have to say drinking all night and staying up all night too are going to make for a very interesting Sarah tomorrow. Or today. Depends on how you look at it.

What I wanted

 What I wanted was
Simple comfort
Two arms around me
Keeping me afloat
In a sea of unloneliness
What I found was
So much more
Love
I went in half
And came out whole

I feel like I'm constantly failing at life these days and I have no idea how to fix it. I mean, I do, but I'm not sure it'll be enough.

In other news, I finally found a place for those cats so that's one less stress on my brain! yay!

Fri, Feb. 8th, 2008, 04:17 pm

I need to move out the cats I have living in Jessica's house cause her roommates don't want them around anymore. Does anyone know of somebody who wants two cats? Let me know asap.

So I came to the conclusion tonight that my iPod obviously wants me to be as depressed as possible because every song it randomly jumped to besides the happy one I started on was a sad lonely woe is me type song. It was really quite a downer. But at the same time, oh so true for my current mood. Guess good old Nathan (that's my iPod and the name is a whole nother story) knows me better than I thought.

The Sudden Departure

Sweet. Dear. Loving. At Gate 18. Final call. You are The Sudden Departure.

You've been in a lot of serious relationships. More than a few have ended ugly. Uglily. Whatever. Our guess is that you're a really fantastic girl who doesn't really know what she wants, and you've broken a few hearts as a result. You fall for people easily, and you enjoy the feeling of falling in love, but once you're there, either boredom or the old "grass is greener" syndrome sets in. The mind wanders, and with it goes the flesh. And then the toiletries.

We know you're not the classic "love 'em and leave 'em" type, at least not in a purely sexual sense. You have too many serious bonding tendencies for that. But even though you're theoretically looking to settle down, you don't settle long on one person. "Serial monogamist" is probably something you hear a lot. "Emotionally loose" is another way to put it. To the poor guys eating your dust and sniffing your panties, it doesn't really make much difference. Of course, it's not really your fault that people get hurt. You have every right to move on when you choose.

I am on a quest for a good way to tack bottle caps to a leather belt. There are lots and lots of things on the internet about making bottle cap belts but they all involve using old seat belts for the belt part which I just don't want to do. Any suggestions?

So is it just me or is it really depressing when you tell someone to just call you when they have time for you and you don't hear from them for almost a week and counting?
